If you you're after luxury, big imposing hotels, resorts, 4 stars minimum and so on, Samothrace is not the place for your holiday. There are only a few hotels on the island, but several villas, studios and apartments for renting. There are also two campsites near Therma.
The most of the hotels are situated on the north side: Niki Beach*** and Aiolos*** in Kamariotissa, Samothraki Village*** and Kastro*** in Paleopoli, Orpheus** and Archondissa Boutique in Therma. In the west there are Yliessa** and Eroessa Samothraki Beach*** hotels, in Makrilies.
If you don't necessarily want to stay at a hotel, you can always choose a villa with studios or apartments. It is usually a more affordable and quite comfortable option. The rooms are generally simply decorated, with a tile floor and many have a fridge and a kitchenette where you can make yourself a coffee or a tea or prepare something for breakfast.
For the free souls there is Varades campsite or the free campsite, near Therma.
Where to stay?
Chora
Chora is a charming place to stay in, but if you want to wake up in the morning and have the sea a few steps away, then it isn't the place for you. You'll only see it from distance, from the height on which the island capital is located. On the other hand, the traditional houses of Chora could offer you an authentic and delightful experience of the Greek life, of the tavernas, coffee shops and narrow cobbled streets. Chora is definitely the most beautiful settlement on the island.
Therma
If you choose to stay in Therma you can enjoy both the experiences – trekking to the vathres or on the top of the mountain and laying in the sun on the beach nearby. The studios and apartments in the locality offer you a bohemian experience between people who feel free no matter their age. As a bonus you have the thermal springs right there.
Kamariotissa
Kamariotissa is the most convenient accommodation option: the ferry leaves you directly in the harbor and the settlement has many taverns, bars, two supermarkets, two bakeries and scooter, car, bike or boat renting possibility. Moreover, Kamariotissa is about half road between the wild beach of Kipos and the popular beach of Pachia Ammos.
Other villages
If you love peace and quietness, choose the accomodation options that the Makrilies, Xiropotamos, Alonia, Kariotes, Lakkoma, Paleopoli or Profitis Ilias villages offer.
