The beaches belonging to the villages of Makrylies and Lakkoma are located in the southwest of the island, 8 kilometers away (10 minutes by car) from Kamariotissa and about halfway to Pachia Ammos.
They're relatively narrow, covered in pebbles and sporadically with sand and offer a fantastic view towards the islands of Gokceada, Limnos and Thassos as well as Mount Athos. The water is clean and clear but deepens relatively quickly. The area is protected from the northern winds, so the sea is often calmer than in other places on the island.
In season, the beach in front of the Samothraki Beach Hotel (located on a small hill by the road) is organized with sunbeds and umbrellas.
The beach belonging to the village of Lakkoma is called Platania ("the plane trees"), after a river that flows into the sea nearby. Quite often there are fishermen on the beach.
On the side of the road, there is To Akrogiali, a fish tavern, which has also rooms for rent.
Out of all the beaches in Samothraki, this one has the best view of the sunset.
