In the village of Paleopoli, on the northern shore of the island, 6-7 kilometers away from Kamariotissa, there's a long stretch of unorganized pebbly beach. It's not one of the most beautiful beaches in Samothraki but can be an option if you're staying at one of the accommodations in the area.
In antiquity, the cove of Paleopoli was the natural port of the island. The wind blows harder here than in other parts of Samothraki and in those times it was an important factor for sailing ships. The proximity to the Sanctuary of the Great Gods was also useful.
The area is popular for fishing and fishermen can be spotted often on the shore. On the side of the road, there's Delfinia, a fish taverna.
Towards the eastern end, after the remains of the old pier, steep cliffs watch over the beach. On top of them, the ruins of the medieval towers built by the Gateluzzi family watch over the area. Near the road, there's a spring that the locals claim has one of the best water on the island.
